Job summary

Meijer Inc. is seeking an Area Leader to oversee engagement and performance across a span of care, directing Leads and Team Leaders while driving area operations and financial results. You will implement process improvements and uphold Meijer culture throughout the stores.

Responsibilities include onboarding, development, coaching, talent discussions, staffing strategy, and enforcing safety and compliance standards to maximize sales and productivity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 4+ years of retail/grocery or customer service experience.
• Progressive leadership experience preferred.
• A passion to provide industry leading service.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with team members to provide clear direction.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information for informed decisions.

Responsibilities

• Engages with team members to ensure onboarding, training and development, and coaching.
• Identifies talent and engages in career discussions to support staffing and leadership pipelines.
• Counsels team members to uphold Meijer standards and growth opportunities.
• Oversees area operations and financial results, managing budget lines in the P&L.
• Drives safety, compliance, and property condition management, ensuring procedures are followed.
• Ensures Leads and Team Leaders assign daily work and training as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
