Job summary

Meijer Inc. is seeking an Area Leader to drive team member engagement across the span of care. You will coach, provide feedback, and manage performance while directing Leads and Team Leaders to ensure operations, safety, and budget adherence.

The role emphasizes talent identification and a focus on Meijer’s culture and standards. The Area Leader will be accountable for area operations and financial results, including forecasting staffing needs and driving process improvements to maximize sales

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 4+ years of retail/grocery or customer service experience.
• Progressive leadership experience preferred.
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive environment.
• Ability to analyze financial and statistical information to inform decisions.
• Strong communication with team members to provide clear direction.
• Understanding of seasonal and diverse merchandising.

Responsibilities

• Engage with team members to ensure onboarding, training and development.
• Identify talent and build a diversified pipeline for staff and leadership roles.
• Conduct candid discussions to ensure standards and growth opportunities.
• Oversee area operations and financial results, including budgeting and P&L items.
• Drive safety and compliance and manage store conditions.
• Direct Team Leaders and Leads in daily assignments and training needs.
• May perform additional duties as required.
