Job summary

Meijer is seeking an Area Leader to oversee a span of care, drive engagement, coaching, performance management and development. The leader will direct Leads and Team Leaders, while accountable for area operations and budget items, including scheduling, forecasting and safety compliance.

This role emphasizes process improvements and a stewardship of Meijer culture, with a focus on talent identification, diversity, and creating an inclusive environment across multiple stores.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 4+ years of retail/grocery or customer service experience.
• Progressive leadership experience preferred.
• A passion to provide industry leading service.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with team members to provide clear direction.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information for decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to lead an organization that practices working safely at all times.
• Proactive/creative thinking applied to the business.
• Understanding of seasonal and diverse merchandising to meet customer needs.
• Strong business acumen and innovative approach to set industry standards.
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive environment.

Responsibilities

• Engages with team members to ensure onboarding, training and development with coaching and feedback.
• Identifies talent and supports staffing and leadership pipelines.
• Engages in candid discussions to uphold Meijer standards and growth opportunities.
• Accountable for area operations and financial results, overseeing budgets and P&L items.
• Drives safety, compliance and overall store condition management.
• Directs Team Leaders and Leads in daily work assignments and training needs.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
