Job summary

Meijer is seeking an Area Leader to drive team engagement, coaching and performance across a defined span of care. You will direct Leads and Team Leaders, oversee area operations and financial results, and be accountable for budgeting, scheduling and productivity.

In this role you’ll shape talent pipelines, foster a safe and inclusive environment, and partner with store leadership to deliver exceptional service and community impact.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 4+ years of retail/grocery or customer service experience.
• Progressive leadership experience preferred.
• A passion to provide industry leading service.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with team members clearly.
• Ability to analyze financial and statistical information for decisions.
• Leads a safety-focused organization.
• Creative thinking to help Meijer set industry standards.
• Understanding of seasonal and diverse merchandising to meet customer needs.

Responsibilities

• Engages with team members to ensure onboarding, training and coaching for success.
• Identifies talent and engages in career discussions to support staffing and leadership pipelines.
• Participates in candid discussions to uphold Meijer standards and growth.
• Oversees area operations and financial results, managing budgeted P&L and forecasts.
• Drives safety and compliance and manages store condition and training needs.
• Ensures Leads provide guidance and assign daily work and development needs.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.
