Job summary

Meijer Inc. is seeking an Area Leader to drive team engagement and oversee area operations and financials. You will lead Leads and Team Leaders while coaching staff to achieve safety, reliability and growth targets.

You’ll identify talent, plan staffing, and foster an inclusive environment to deliver excellent customer service and store performance. This role requires strong leadership and a focus on Meijer culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 4+ years of retail/grocery or customer service experience.
• Progressive leadership experience preferred.
• A passion to provide industry leading service.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with team members in a way that provides clear and precise direction.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use that information to make informed decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to lead an organization that practices working safely at all times.
• Demonstrates proactive/creative thinking and applies it to the business.
• A thorough understanding of seasonal and diverse merchandising which leads to meeting the needs of our customers/community and gaining sales and market share.
• A strong business acumen.

Responsibilities

• Engages with team members in span of care to ensure onboarding, training and development, and coaching and feedback to be successful.
• Identifies talent and engages in career discussions to support store staffing and a diversified talent pipeline for team member and leadership roles.
• Involvement in candid discussions with team members to ensure Meijer standards are upheld and growth within the organization.
• Accountability for area operations and financial results by overseeing the execution of corporate plans to maximize sales and productivity and manage budget line items in the P&L.
• Drives safety and compliance throughout the store and ensures adherence to procedures.
• Ensures Leads and Team Leaders provide guidance and assign daily work and training as needed.
• May perform other duties as assigned or required.
