Job summary

Meijer is seeking an Area Leader to drive engagement and development across their span of care. You will lead Leads and Team Leaders, coach for performance, and guide talent discussions to build a strong, diverse store team while meeting financial targets.

You will own area operations, safety, scheduling, and P&L results, while identifying process improvements and upholding the Meijer culture across the organization. Strong leadership and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 4+ years of retail/grocery or customer service experience.
• Progressive leadership experience preferred.
• A passion to provide industry leading service.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with team members in a way that provides clear and precise direction.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use that information to make informed decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to lead an organization that practices working safely at all times.
• A thorough understanding of seasonal and diverse merchandising which leads to meeting the needs of our customers/community and gaining sales and market share.
• A strong business acumen.
• An innovative attitude to help Meijer set the industry standard.
• A commitment to fostering an inclusive environment where all team members and vendors feel valued and supported.

Responsibilities

• Engages with team members to ensure onboarding, training and development, and coaching.
• Identifies talent and engages in career discussions for staffing and leadership pipelines.
• Involvement in candid discussions to uphold Meijer standards and growth opportunities.
• Oversees area operations and financial results, aligning with corporate plans to maximize sales and productivity.
• Drives safety and compliance and manages store condition and procedures.
• Guides Leads and Team Leaders in daily work assignments and training needs.
• Performs additional duties as required.
