Job summary

Lumen is seeking an API Technology Architect to be a customer‑facing technical specialist within the SWAT team. You will drive API architecture, integration design, and enablement for automation across customer environments and partner systems.

In this role you’ll lead discovery, guide integration designs, troubleshoot complex scenarios, and translate business requirements into secure, reusable API‑driven solutions, collaborating with product management and engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Telecommunications, or related field, or equivalent education and professional experience.
• 10+ years of experience in technical pre‑sales, solution architecture, API/integration architecture, software or platform consulting, network automation, or telecommunications engineering.
• Experience leading technical discovery and translating business/technical requirements into clear designs.
• Knowledge of API authentication/authorization concepts (OAuth 2.0, tokens, credentials, scopes, secrets).
• Strong written, verbal, listening, presentation and facilitation skills for diverse stakeholders.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple engagements and deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Lead API architecture and customer integration discussions with customers and account teams.
• Document and design customer integration patterns, including authentication and operational support considerations.
• Collaborate with architects and specialists when requirements cross product boundaries.
• Guide API strategy across multiple Lumen products, not as isolated integrations.
• Lead workshops, architecture discussions, and technical demos with customers and Technical Sellers.
• Create API enablement materials and coordinate with product, API platforms, and documentation teams.
