Job summary

Lumen is seeking an API Technology Architect to join the SWAT team. You will combine hands‑on API architecture with seller enablement, documentation, and field support to deliver secure, reusable API‑driven solutions for customers and partners.

You will lead API discovery, guide integration designs, troubleshoot complex scenarios, and translate business needs into scalable architectures while collaborating with product, API platforms, and engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Telecommunications, or a related field, or equivalent relevant education and professional experience.
• 10+ years of relevant experience in one or more of: technical pre‑sales, solution architecture, API or integration architecture, software or platform consulting, network automation, or telecommunications engineering.
• Demonstrated experience leading technical discovery and translating customer business and technical requirements into clear, supportable solution designs.
• Working knowledge of API authentication and authorization concepts, including OAuth 2.0, tokens, credentials, scopes, and secure handling of secrets.
• Strong written, verbal, listening, presentation, and facilitation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with developers, engineers, architects, sales teams, product teams, operations teams, and business leaders.

Responsibilities

• Lead API architecture and customer integration discussions and document integration patterns, including authentication and operational support considerations.
• Collaborate with Technology Architects and domain specialists when requirements cross product or organizational boundaries; guide cross‑portfolio API and automation strategy.
• Lead or participate in customer workshops, architecture discussions, technical demonstrations, integration reviews, troubleshooting sessions, and onboarding calls.
• Create and maintain API enablement resources, including design guides, reference architectures, integration patterns, quick‑reference materials, and FAQs; deliver API education to internal stakeholders.
