Job summary

Lumen is seeking an API Technology Architect to be a customer-facing technical expert on the SWAT team, guiding API-driven integration and automation across multiple products. You will lead discovery, design patterns, and enablement efforts to empower Technical Sellers and customers.

The role requires extensive API architecture experience, security-focused design, and collaborative leadership to drive API adoption across the portfolio.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and professional experience in CS/Engineering/IT/Telecommunications.
• 10+ years in technical pre-sales, solution architecture, API/integration architecture, or related fields.
• Ability to translate customer requirements into secure, reusable API-driven solutions.
• Experience with API authentication/authorization concepts (OAuth 2.0, tokens, credentials).
• Strong communication and facilitation skills across technical and business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead API-focused discovery with customers and account teams.
• Architect and document integration patterns including authentication and workflows.
• Collaborate with Technology Architects across product boundaries.
• Guide multi-product API and automation strategies.
• Lead customer workshops, architecture discussions, and technical demonstrations.
• Develop API enablement resources and conduct training for sellers and engineers.
