Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members serve as student success coaches and mentors in elementary through high school settings. The role includes coaching to raise academic achievement, improving attendance, and building positive behaviors with students and teachers, supported by initial training and ongoing guidance.

Members participate in in-class and after-school activities, helping to foster a safe, engaging learning environment while receiving a biweekly stipend and AmeriCorps benefits.

Qualifications

• Experience in coaching/mentoring is not required; training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor elementary, middle and/or high school students to improve academic success and attendance.
• Plan and monitor student progress, partner with teachers on instruction and in-class support.
• Create engaging, safe classroom spaces and support extended day and virtual programming.
