Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps member supports coaching and mentoring for elementary to high school students, helping them achieve academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive behaviors. You’ll plan and monitor progress, collaborating with teachers on in-class activities and student support.

City Year provides training at year start, a bi-weekly living stipend, and AmeriCorps benefits including education awards and relocation support.

Qualifications

• Eligible for U.S. citizen or permanent resident status and able to work in the U.S.
• Be 17–25 by July 1, 2025 and commit for the program year
• Have a GED or high school diploma or some college experience

Responsibilities

• Support academic coaching and interpersonal development for students: 1:1 and small groups
• Develop literacy and math skills with varied learning activities by student level
• Create and implement a behavior management system for students
• Collaborate with teachers to monitor student progress and participate in data reviews
• Help create a safe, engaging classroom space in partnership with the teacher
• Support school-wide initiatives and extended day/after-school programs
