Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members serve as coaches and mentors to elementary, middle, and/or high school students, helping them achieve academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive school behaviors. The role includes 2–4 weeks of initial training and close collaboration with teachers.

You will participate in classroom activities, after-school programs, and school-wide initiatives while gaining personal and professional growth within City Year’s AmeriCorps program.

Qualifications

• Experience in all these tasks is not necessary. We provide 2-4 weeks of training at the beginning of the year to support you.
• You will work with partner teachers and school staff every step of the way.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students to support academic success, attendance, and positive behaviors.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress and collaborate with teachers on classroom instruction.
• Support academic coaching and interpersonal development for students in 1:1 and small groups.
• Contribute to school-wide initiatives to increase engagement with students and families.

Education

GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree
