Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor elementary, middle, and high school students to foster academic success, attendance, and positive behavior. You will plan and monitor individual progress and partner with teachers to support classroom instruction and student needs.

The program provides 2–4 weeks of initial training and ongoing collaboration with school staff to ensure engaging, safe, and supportive learning environments for students.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident (work authorization in the U.S. is required).
• Be 17–25 years old by July 1, 2025.
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree.
• Have served no more than three AmeriCorps terms in a state or national program.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students to help them achieve academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive behaviors.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress and collaborate with teachers on in-class instruction and student support.
• Complete 2–4 weeks of initial training and work closely with partner teachers and school staff.
