Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking an Administrative Assistant for ambulatory care settings. The role supports patients needing routine and urgent appointments, assesses needs and refers to appropriate services, and alerts providers to emergent care needs.

The position requires a high school diploma, 3 years of related experience or higher, and proficiency with specialized software. A signing bonus may be available and final terms depend on interview.

Qualifications

• License/Certification/Education: Required: High School Diploma.
• Preferred: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree.
• Experience/Skills: Required: 3 years of related experience or degree.
• Requires ability to use specialized applications software and computer systems.
• Must be multifunctional and work well under stress.
• Exemplifies professional behavior and excellent communication and human relations skills.
• Preferred: Knowledge of business office procedures and medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Greets visitors and patients for scheduled or urgent care appointments.
• Verifies patient demographics and insurance information.
• May collect co-payments from patients.
• Obtains signatures of consent for treatment and billing information.
• Assesses patient needs and refers to appropriate services.
• Alerts providers to emergent patient care needs.
