Job summary

HDR, Inc. seeks a seasoned Alternative Delivery Director to lead transportation projects within HDR’s Transportation Business Group. You will direct pursuit and delivery of large civil infrastructure projects, negotiate terms, and coordinate with HDR Legal, Risk, and regional leads to advance programs.

You will build and manage client relationships with public agencies and firms, mentor teams, and promote HDR’s employee-owned culture. Travel up to 50% is required for this role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or closely related field required.
• Minimum of 10 years of professional engineering experience in large civil infrastructure projects.
• Professional registration (PE or equivalent) for technical leadership roles.
• Experience leading diverse teams and collaborating with multiple HDR leadership levels.
• Ability to travel up to 50% of time.

Responsibilities

• Report directly to the Project Delivery Program Director for pursuit and delivery of Alternative Delivery projects.
• Drive approval processes in compliance with HDR policy, authority matrices, and risk committee inputs.
• Collaborate with HDR Business Group Directors on policy, resources, and contract terms.
• Work with HDR Legal and Risk Committee to establish and negotiate contract terms for AD projects.
• Foster collaboration among Transportation Business Group leadership and regional leads on project opportunities and relationships.
• Lead HDR leadership calls to ensure matrix collaboration across Areas, Regions and Markets.
• Advise HDR leadership on commercial and technical trends in the Alternative Delivery industry.
• Coordinate with Area Business Group Managers and other staff to optimize teaming and subcontracts.
• Engage with industry associations to elevate HDR visibility in AD markets.
• Mentor teams to develop technical capabilities and professional growth.
