Job summary

Saab West Lafayette in Indiana is seeking a Technical Writer to join our team responsible for the rear section of the T-7A Redhawk aircraft. You will serve as the local SME for technical writing, guide inspectors, and drive best practices across multiple shifts.

The role requires a background in quality or technical writing in manufacturing, with strong written and verbal communication, and the ability to manage NCRs, FAIs, and MRBs in a fast-paced environment. Applicants must be U.S.

Qualifications

• AS Degree in Quality, Technical Writing, or related STEM discipline or 3 years in manufacturing quality.
• Previous technical writing experience in manufacturing or quality operation.
• Ability to articulate technical product/process requirements.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Collaborative approach to problem-solving.
• Willing to work extended hours when needed.

Responsibilities

• Serve as local SME for technical writing and train inspectors across shifts.
• Report on writing performance and turnaround time to leadership.
• Identify common quality issues and establish corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
• Develop best practices for technical writing and update them as needed.
• Prepare NCRs, Inspection Plans/Control Plans, FAIs, and MRB dispositions.
• Develop knowledge of quality requirements per customer/industry standards.
• Facilitate controls/solutions to provide high-quality products on schedule.
• Act as primary contact in non-conformance investigations and material assessments.
