Job summary

Saab West Lafayette in Indiana is seeking a Technical Writer to join our team responsible for the rear section of the T-7A Redhawk aircraft's assembly and documentation. You will serve as local SME for technical writing, guiding inspectors across shifts and ensuring accuracy in NCRs, FAI, MRB dispositions, and related documentation.

You will develop best practices, interpret complex technical information, and maintain documentation aligned with ISO9001/AS9100 quality standards.

Qualifications

• AS Degree in Quality, Technical Writing, or related STEM, or 3 years’ manufacturing quality experience.
• Previous technical writing experience in manufacturing or quality operation is required.
• Ability to interpret and revise documentation/work instructions for consistency and efficient repetition.
• Effective written and verbal communication; collaborative problem-solving; self-driven and cross-global teams.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the local SME for technical writing and provide guidance/training for inspectors across multiple shifts
• Report on writing performance and turnaround time to leadership
• Identify common quality issues and establish corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence
• Develop best practices for technical writing; maintain/update them as needed
• Responsible for NCRs, Inspection Plans/Control Plans, FAIs, and MRB dispositions
• Develop strong working knowledge of customer/industry quality requirements
• Facilitate controls/solutions to deliver high-quality products on schedule
• Primary point of contact in non-conformance investigations and material assessments
