Job summary

Saab West Lafayette, IN is seeking a Technical Writer to join our team that supports the manufacture of the rear section of the T-7A Redhawk for the U.S. Air Force.

The role provides SME guidance on technical writing and drives quality through NCRs, inspection plans, FAIs, and MRB dispositions. You will develop best practices for technical writing, maintain documentation standards, and serve as the primary contact in non-conformance investigations while collaborating with a global team to

Qualifications

• AS Degree in Quality, Technical Writing, or related STEM discipline OR 3 years’ related experience in a manufacturing quality role required.
• Previous technical writing experience in manufacturing or quality operation is required
• Ability to interpret and revise relevant written documentation / work instructions for consistency and efficient repetition
• Effective and concise written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrates a collaborative approach to problem-solving
• Ability to be self-driven and deliver high-quality results across a global team
• Ability to work extended hours when needed

Responsibilities

• Serve as the local SME for technical writing and provide guidance to inspectors across shifts
• Report on writing performance and turnaround time to leadership
• Identify common quality issues and establish corrective actions to prevent recurrence
• Develop best practices for technical writing and update them as needed
• Generate Nonconformance Reports, Inspection Plans/Control Plans, FAIs, and MRB dispositions
• Develop knowledge of customer/industry quality requirements
• Facilitate controls/solutions to deliver high-quality products on schedule
• Act as primary contact in non-conformance investigations and material assessments
• Contribute to Saab's people-first culture and values
• Perform other projects and tasks as assigned
