Job summary

Saab West Lafayette in Indiana seeks a Technical Writer to join a team manufacturing the rear section of the T-7A Redhawk for the U.S. Air Force.

You will serve as the local SME for technical writing and guide inspectors across multiple shifts. Responsibilities include generating Nonconformance Reports, Inspection Plans and First Article Inspections, maintaining quality documentation, and supporting corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.

Qualifications

• AS Degree in Quality/Technical Writing or related STEM discipline or 3 years’ related manufacturing quality experience.
• Previous technical writing experience in manufacturing or quality operation is required.
• Ability to articulate technical product/process requirements for electro-mechanical assembly.
• Interpret and revise documentation/work instructions for consistency and efficiency.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Collaborative problem-solving approach and self-driven to deliver results across a global team.

Responsibilities

• Serve as local SME for technical writing and guide inspectors across shifts.
• Report on writing performance and turnaround time to leadership.
• Identify common quality issues and establish corrective actions.
• Develop best practices for technical writing and maintain standards.
• Prepare Nonconformance Reports (NCRs), Inspection Plans/Control Plans, FAIs, MRB dispositions.
• Develop knowledge of customer/industry quality requirements (ISO9001/AS9100/IATF16949).
• Facilitate controls/solutions to provide high-quality products on schedule.
• Primary contact in non-conformance investigations and material assessments.
