Job summary

Saab West Lafayette, IN is seeking a Technical Writer to join the team manufacturing the rear section of the T-7A Redhawk aircraft. You will serve as the local SME for technical writing, guide inspectors, and own documentation like NCRs and FAIs while aligning with ISO/AS quality standards.

You should have an AS/BS in a STEM field or equivalent manufacturing quality experience, with strong communication and the ability to work extended hours as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Associate degree required in Quality, Technical Writing or related STEM discipline, or 3 years’ related manufacturing quality experience.
• Previous technical writing experience in manufacturing or quality operations required.
• Ability to articulate technical product/process requirements for electro‑mechanical assembly.
• Experience interpreting and revising documentation/work instructions for consistency and repeatability.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills; collaborative problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Serve as local SME for technical writing and provide guidance/train inspectors across multiple shifts.
• Report on writing performance and turnaround time to leadership.
• Identify recurring quality issues and establish corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Develop and maintain best practices for technical writing across the organization.
• Create NCRs, Inspection Plans/Control Plans, FAIs, and MRB dispositions.
• Develop knowledge of customer/industry quality requirements (ISO/AS standards).
• Facilitate controls/solutions to deliver high‑quality products on schedule.
• Lead non‑conformance investigations and material assessments.
