Job summary

Saab West Lafayette is seeking a Technical Writer to join our quality-focused team manufacturing the rear section of the T-7A Redhawk aircraft for the U.S. Air Force.

The role serves as local SME for technical writing, developing NCRs, FAIs, MRB dispositions, and inspection plans while guiding inspectors across shifts. You will ensure conformance to customer and industry standards (ISO/AS9100/IATF16949 where applicable), drive corrective actions, and maintain best practices in documentation.

Qualifications

• AS Degree in Quality, Technical Writing, or related STEM discipline OR 3 years’ related experience in a manufacturing quality role required.
• Previous technical writing experience in manufacturing or quality operation is required
• Ability to articulate technical product/process requirements for electro-mechanical assembly
• Interpret and revise written documentation/work instructions for consistency and repetition
• Effective and concise written and verbal communication skills
• Collaborative approach to problem-solving
• Self-driven and able to deliver high-quality results across a global team

Responsibilities

• Serve as the local SME for technical writing and provide guidance/training for inspectors across multiple shifts
• Report on writing performance and turnaround time to leadership
• Identify common quality issues and establish corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence
• Develop best practices for technical writing and maintain them
• Generate NCRs, Inspection Plans/Control Plans, FAIs, MRB dispositions
