Job summary

Unum’s ADA Specialist role in the Leave Management Center focuses on being the single point of contact for employers, advising on ADA, leave status, and disability-related matters while ensuring clear Unum communications.

You will educate on stay-at-work and return-to-work processes, review medical information, coordinate with clinicians and vocational resources, and support managers and employees to implement effective worksite modifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent, relevant business experience.
• Grounding in legal issues pertaining to disability and absence management, particularly knowledge of FMLA, ADA, and state leave laws.
• Proven excellence in using persuasion and negotiation skills.
• Demonstrated collaborative behavior and being a strong team player.
• Demonstrated analytical skills including ability to produce credible reports and documents on related topics.

Responsibilities

• Serves as a “single point of contact” for ADA customers’ managers and HR representatives regarding questions related to ADA, leave management procedures, FMLA, and STD/LTD claims management.
• Provides consultation and education to customers about readiness to stay at work or return to work as well as ADA considerations.
• Coordinate between employer representatives, employees, and attending physicians as requested.
• Obtain or review medical information to determine whether to provide recommendations for worksite modification eligibility.
• Identify possible worksite modifications and coordinate with clinical and vocational resources.
