The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks a Human Resources ADA Specialist to provide support for individuals with disabilities under the ADA by reviewing accommodation requests and coordinating accommodations across campus and hospital settings. The role facilitates communication between managers and employees to assess needs and identify appropriate accommodations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Human Resources or related field and one year of related experience required.
  • Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
  • Preferred skills: empathy and emotional intelligence; critical thinking and problem solving; attention to detail; sound judgment and integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Review accommodation requests and supporting documentation.
  • Facilitate accommodations and communicate between managers and employees to assess and review needs.
  • Collaborate with recruitment services to identify job opportunities that support individuals with disabilities.
  • Coordinate outreach efforts and engagement with the AWARE program across campus and hospital settings.
