Job summary

Baystate Health is seeking an experienced hospital unit coordinator to support patient throughput, bed management, and documentation on the unit. You will coordinate with charge nurses, physicians, and ancillary staff to ensure smooth admission, discharge, and transfer processes.

The role requires 3 years of acute care experience and familiarity with OA Gold, Kronos, and other hospital systems. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

• 3 years of Acute Care Experience with at least one year as Level II OA MT at BH
• Must pass required dysrhythmia course (telemetry) within 6 weeks of hire
• GED or HiSET is required

Responsibilities

• Bed Management: prioritizes beds and coordinates admissions, discharges, transfers.
• Use OA Gold, CIS, BMD, and other systems daily for patient data and discharge planning.
• Document in patient records and coordinate with care teams.
• Communicate with departments for priority tests and next-day discharges.
• Support Hospitalist teams with rounds, calls, and scheduling of coverage.
• Maintain patient charts, discharge packets, and logs; ensure accuracy for transfers.
• Assist with staffing, posting coverage for breaks, and coordinating post-discharge follow-up.
• Inventory and restock unit supplies; manage unit logs and audits.
• Respond to emergencies and monitor equipment as needed.
• Observe monitors and report arrhythmias; ensure proper device placement.
