Job summary

North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University Extension is seeking an Extension Agent for 4-H Youth Development located in Mitchell County. The agent will plan, implement, and evaluate comprehensive 4-H programs for youth aged 5-19, emphasizing leadership and workforce skills, including STEM, in partnership with county and community organizations.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in child or youth education or development and two+ years with limited-resource youth.
• Experience planning programs and working in diverse communities.
• Experience working effectively as a team member.
• Ability to manage time and resources.
• Experience and knowledge in mass media, marketing and presentations.
• Skills in leadership, budgeting and public relations.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with county and community-based organizations to deliver programs and recruit participants.
• Determine program needs and priorities by conducting needs assessments.
• Organize, communicate, and deliver course materials in formal and informal settings.
• Evaluate data from advisory committees, county residents and participants to determine program impacts.
• Deliver programs addressing urban limited-resource and socially-disadvantaged youth with STEM focus.
