Rackspace Technology in the United States (Buffalo) is seeking a Third Shift Data Center Operations Technician III to own IT infrastructure within the data center, ensuring customer server environments are secure, operational and maintain 99.999% uptime.

The role focuses on monitoring tickets, hardware troubleshooting, OS provisioning, network cabling and storage hardware management, with a strong emphasis on high availability and on-site execution during the 3rd shift.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and prioritize an internal ticketing system to provide customer support.
• Provide basic OS storage troubleshooting, storage upgrades, hardware troubleshooting and RAID configuration changes.
• Provide hardware support and upgrades for servers running Windows Server, RHEL, Ubuntu Linux or VMware ESX.
• Perform simple OS administration tasks including configuring OS network IPs, OS installs via PXE, firmware updates and basic troubleshooting.
• Install or remove fiber or copper cabling and perform Layer 1 network testing and connectivity checks.
• Install hardware on network devices like switches, firewalls, load-balancers and security appliances.
• Install storage hardware on DAS and NAS arrays.
• Complete customer maintenance requests involving hardware modification, OS installation, cabinet mounting and cabling.
