Job summary

Rackspace Technology in Buffalo, NY is seeking a Data Center Operations Technician responsible for the IT infrastructure within the data center, ensuring customer server environments are secure, operational and maintain 99.999% uptime.

The role requires onsite work in Buffalo with a 3rd shift, monitoring a ticketing system, performing OS storage troubleshooting, hardware upgrades, and RAID config changes on Windows Server, RHEL, Ubuntu, and VMware ESXi platforms.

Qualifications

US citizenship is required.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
2 years of experience in a data center environment.
Able to build, repair or upgrade hardware components.

Responsibilities

Monitor and prioritize an internal ticketing system to provide customer support.
Provide basic OS storage troubleshooting, including storage upgrades and RAID configuration changes.
Provide hardware support and upgrades for servers running Windows Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Ubuntu Linux or VMware ESXi.
Perform simple OS administration tasks including IP setup, PXE-based OS installs, firmware updates and troubleshooting.
Install or remove fiber or copper cabling; test and troubleshoot Layer 1 connectivity.
Install network device hardware including switches, firewalls, load-balancers and security appliances.
Install hardware on storage devices including DAS and NAS arrays.
Complete customer maintenance requests including hardware modification, OS installation, cabinet mounting and cabling.
