Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a 3D scanning technician to operate handheld Artec Leo devices on concrete and industrial projects. You will capture on-site data, process it in Artec Studio, and deliver scan-to-CAD outputs the client can act on, with emphasis on accuracy and on-site safety.

Travel to regional hubs may be required; hands-on scanner experience and CAD-reading ability are essential. We sponsor certifications and provide training toward lead technician roles.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience operating a handheld structured-light or laser scanner on real projects.
• Working knowledge of Artec Studio or comparable scan-processing software.
• Familiarity with CAD and reading structural or fabrication drawings.
• Comfortable on construction sites and able to carry equipment outdoors.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable record; willing to travel.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute handheld 3D scans of rebar and embeds before concrete placement and other structures.
• Control drift on large objects with reference features and overlap zoning.
• Verify capture completeness on site before leaving.
• Process scans in Artec Studio: registration, fusion, mesh cleanup, texture, exports (STL/OBJ/E57/CAD).
• Produce deviation maps, reports, and coordinates against drawings or CAD.
• Build scan-to-CAD solids (STEP/IGES) for reverse engineering and fit-up checks.
• Document capture procedure, equipment settings, and chain of custody on forensic matters.
• Coordinate access, permits, safety with superintendents; travel to hubs as assigned.
