Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a skilled 3D scanning technician to operate handheld Artec Leo across concrete, structural, and plant projects. You will capture data on site, verify coverage, process scans in Artec Studio, and deliver meshes, point clouds, and CAD-ready files.

Qualifications

Hands-on experience operating a handheld structured-light or laser scanner on real projects.
Working knowledge of Artec Studio or comparable scan-processing software; mesh cleanup and registration.
Familiarity with CAD and reading structural or fabrication drawings.
Comfortable on active construction sites and in industrial plants; able to carry equipment.
Valid driver's license with an acceptable record.
Willing to travel by air as needed.
Experience with scan-to-CAD or metrology reporting a plus.
AC I/ ICC certifications sponsorship considered for growth.

Responsibilities

Plan and execute handheld 3D scans of rebar and embeds before concrete placement and other structures.
Control drift on large objects with reference features and overlapping zones.
Verify capture completeness on site before leaving.
Process scans in Artec Studio: registration, fusion, mesh cleanup, texture, and export formats.
Produce deviation maps, reports, and anchor bolt coordinates against drawings or CAD.
Build scan-to-CAD solids (STEP/IGES) for reverse engineering or hand-clean meshes for modeling.
Document capture procedure, equipment settings, and chain of custody on forensic matters.
Coordinate access, permits, safety with superintendents and plant contacts; travel as assigned.
