Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a trained 3D scanning technician to operate handheld scanners, process data, and deliver scan-to-CAD outputs for concrete and structural projects. You will work on active sites, verify data on site, and produce files in STL/OBJ/E57 formats for CAD workflows.

Applicants should have hands-on handheld scanner experience, familiarity with Artec Studio, CAD reading skills, and a willingness to travel.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience operating a handheld structured-light or laser scanner on real projects with examples.
• Working knowledge of Artec Studio or comparable software for mesh cleanup and export.
• Familiarity with CAD drawings and ability to read structural/ fabrication drawings.
• Comfortable on active construction sites and in industrial plants; able to carry equipment and travel.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable record; ability to travel with gear.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute handheld 3D scans of rebar, embeds, and structures before pours and for damaged assets.
• Control drift on large objects using reference features and overlapping zones.
• Verify capture completeness on site before leaving.
• Process scans in Artec Studio: registration, fusion, mesh cleanup, texture, and export formats.
• Produce deviation maps, measurement reports, crack maps, and coordinate reports against drawings.
• Build scan-to-CAD solids for reverse engineering and support modeling teams.
• Document capture procedures, equipment settings, and chain of custody on forensic matters.
• Keep scanner, batteries, and calibration records organized; coordinate access and safety with site contacts.
• Travel to regional hubs as assigned; support multiple project sites.
