Job summary

Ingersoll Rand is seeking a skilled Manual Machinist for the 2nd shift at our Moody, AL facility to operate large lathes and overhaul Liquid Ring Vacuum Pumps. The role requires 3+ years of machinist experience, blueprint reading, and proficiency with King-style boring mills or vertical turning lathes.

You will read precision gauges and perform setups to tight tolerances. We offer a competitive hourly rate of $32-$35 plus a $3.00 per hour shift differential and a relocation/retention bonus

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a machine operator/machinist.
• 2+ years of experience reading and interpreting blueprints.
• 1+ years of experience operating King-style boring mills and/or vertical turning lathes (VTLs).
• Ability to effectively and safely use a variety of precision measuring tools.

Responsibilities

• Performs set ups of large Liquid Ring Vacuum Pump components and operations of large Vertical & Horizontal Lathes used to repair and overhaul Large Liquid Ring Vacuum Pumps & Compressors.
• Interprets blueprints/drawings to determine critical dimensions and tolerances.
• Reads micrometers, vernier calipers, dial indicators and other precision measuring/test equipment.
• Maintains tight tolerances as indicated by drawings, sometimes as low as .0005".
• Works overtime as needed; may include weekends.
• Operates forklift and overhead crane safely within shop EH&S & QMS processes.
• Lifts and rigs heavy components; assists in disassembly/reassembly and rebuilding of pumps.
• Cross-trains in Fabrication, Assembly, Rotor Balancing, etc.
• Other duties as assigned.
