Job summary

Ingersoll Rand Moody, AL is seeking a skilled Manual Machinist for the 2nd shift to work on large pump and compressor components with precision in a high-demand environment. You will interpret blueprints, set up large machines, and maintain tight tolerances while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure quality and on-time delivery.

The role requires experience with boring mills or vertical turning lathes and proficiency with precision measurement tools.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a machine operator/Machinist.
• 2+ years reading and interpreting blueprints.
• 1+ years operating King-style boring mills and/or vertical turning lathes (VTLs).
• Ability to use micrometers, calipers, depth gauges, height gauges, and other precision tools.

Responsibilities

• Performs set ups of large Liquid Ring Vacuum Pump components and operations of large vertical & horizontal lathes used to repair and overhaul large liquid ring vacuum pumps & compressors.
• Interprets blueprints/drawings to determine critical dimensions and tolerances; reads micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, etc.
• Maintains tolerances as low as .0005
• Selects appropriate cutting tools and determines speeds and feeds for proper surface finish.
• Overtime work; potential weekends.
• Safe operation of forklift and overhead crane; adheres to EH&S & QMS processes.
• Lifting and rigging of heavy components; assist in disassembly/reassembly and rebuilding.
• Cross-train opportunities in fabrication, assembly, rotor balancing.
• Other responsibilities as assigned
