Job summary

Kenosha Human Development Services, Inc. is seeking a Crisis Counselor to provide walk-in, phone, and mobile crisis interventions in Kenosha, WI. You will link clients to community resources and follow up to ensure safety and stabilization.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree and strong communication skills. It is a full-time, in-person position at the Crisis Prevention Center, with a typical 40-hour work week and an exempt status.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to observe, interpret, assess, and document human behaviors.
• Ability to maintain active pace for up to an eight-hour shift.
• Professional attitude and ability to work independently with clear boundaries.
• Must complete minimum of 40 hours training upon hire.
• Must communicate effectively in English.
• Reliable transportation and valid driver's license with good driving record.
• Must carry auto insurance with 100,000/300,000/100,000 coverage.
• Ability to maintain records and document case notes daily.

Responsibilities

• Provide crisis interventions via walk-in, telephone and mobile outreach.
• Link clients to community resources and arrange follow-up.
• Refer and authorize county-funded services as appropriate.
• Assist with emergency psychiatric and involuntary inpatient determinations as needed.
• Coordinate with law enforcement and agencies for safety planning and referrals.
• Complete required documentation promptly.
