Job summary

The Ingham County Sheriff's Office is seeking a 9-1-1 Dispatcher to operate in a 24-hour public safety environment, receiving emergency calls, determining priority, and dispatching police, fire or medical units. You will monitor CAD and multiple radio talk groups, provide pre-arrival instructions, perform data entry, and support on-call and overtime shifts.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent; coursework in public safety preferred; data-entry ability and background checks;

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• College coursework in Criminal Justice, Emergency Services or related field preferred.
• Must pass data-entry test and background checks.

Responsibilities

• Receive, evaluate and prioritize emergency and non-emergency calls.
• Dispatch police, fire, EMS, or other services as needed.
• Provide pre-arrival emergency medical instructions to the public.
• Operate CAD, radios, and other communications equipment.
• Perform data entry and support training as needed.
