Job summary

Rackspace Technology in Buffalo, NY is seeking a Manager for the datacenter operations team to contribute to strategic planning of design, operation, and maintenance of data center equipment. You will support mission-critical servers and strive to maintain uptime above 99.999%.

This role also covers vendor selection and contract negotiations, plus coaching staff, performance reviews, and process improvements to increase productivity and reduce costs while meeting client needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/CE or related field; additional experience may substitute.
• 7+ years in data center operations.
• Experience leading teams or guiding junior staff preferred.
• Experience meeting production/operation schedules.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of datacenter operation engineers to maintain 99.999% uptime.
• Report operational performance to DC leadership.
• Recommend procedural or equipment changes to boost productivity and cut costs.
• Train staff on policies and engage them in change initiatives.
• Participate in hiring recommendations and performance reviews.
• Manage internal ticketing system and hardware/software troubleshooting.
