Job summary

A leading engineering firm in Singapore is seeking a Workplace Safety and Health Officer to ensure compliance with safety regulations at construction sites. You will oversee safety systems, conduct inspections, and promote a safe working environment. The ideal candidate should possess a Specialist Diploma in Workplace Safety and Health, have at least 3 years of relevant experience, and be registered with the Ministry of Manpower. This role requires strong leadership skills and the ability to manage emergencies effectively.

Qualifications

• Must be a registered Workplace Safety & Health Officer with the Ministry of Manpower (Singapore).
• Min 3–5 years relevant experience in construction/project safety.
• Strong understanding of local regulations and WSH (Construction) Regulations.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with WSH regulations and company safety policies.
• Conduct safety inspections and audits and recommend corrective actions.
• Liaise with government authorities like MOM and BCA regarding safety matters.

Job Purpose

ToensurecompliancewithWorkplaceSafetyandHealth(WSH)regulationsandcompanysafetypoliciesattheconstructionsiteforprojects.TheWSHOwilloverseeandimplementsafetysystems,conductinspections,andpromoteasafeworkingenvironment.

Responsibilities

• EnsurecompliancewithWSHRegulationssuchassitecomplieswiththeWorkplaceSafetyandHealthActanditssubsidiarylegislations(e.g.WSH(Construction)Regulations.AndperformstatutoryrolesofRegisteredWSHOfficer.
• Monitoradherencetocompanysafetypoliciesandprocedures
• ConductSafetyInspectionsandAuditsbyperformingregularsitesafetyinspectionsandriskassessments,identifyunsafepracticesorhazardousconditionsandrecommendcorrectiveactions.Aswellastoensureallmachineryandequipmentareinsafeworkingcondition.
• Implement/adherencetosafetymanagementsystemsforprojects/sites,monitoring&controlprojects/sitesspecificRiskManagementPlans,SafeWorkProcedures(SWP)andPermittoWork(PTW)systems.
• AssistinthedevelopmentandimplementationofaWorkplaceSafetyandHeathManagementSystem(WSHMS)ifrequired.
• Investigatinganyaccidents,nearmissesorunsafeacts.RecommendpreventivemeasurestoavoidrecurrenceandsubmitreportstotheMinistryofManpower(MOM)asrequired.
• Toconductorcoordinatesafetybriefings,toolboxtalks,andinductiontrainingforworkersandnewstaff.Educateworkersaboutsitehazards,PPEusage,emergencyproceduresetc.
• Developandtestemergencyresponseplan,ifnecessary,ensurefiresafety,firstaidandevacuationproceduresareinplaceandknowntoallworkers.
• LiaisewithgovernmentauthoritiesliketheMinistryofManpower(MOM),BCA,SCDForcustomersforsafetymattersandserveasthemainpointofcontactduringsiteinspectionsorauditsbyregulatorsorcustomer.
• MaintainSafetyRecordsofinspections,incidents,training,permitsandsafetymeetings.Tosubmitregularsafetyperformancesreportstositemanagement.
• MaintainandimproveEHSstandardsandpracticesattheworkplace/sites.
• Promotesafetyrelatedactivities,attendcommitteemeetingsandconductregulartrainingtostakeholdersifnecessary.

Requirements

• MustbeaWorkplaceSafety&HealthOfficerregisteredwithMinistryOfManpower(Singapore).
• MustbeanEnvironmentalControlOfficer(SpecifiedConstructionSites)registeredunderNationalEnvironmentalAgency(Singapore).
• PossessaSpecialistDiplomainWorkplaceSafetyandHealthorequivalent(MOM-recognized).
• ExperienceandgoodknowledgeofEnvironment,WorkplaceSafety&HealthManagementSystemssuchasISO14001andISO45001includingandBizSAFECertification.
• Minimum3–5yearsofrelevantexperienceinconstruction/projectsafety.
• FamiliaritywithWSH(Construction)Regulations,CodeofPractices,andotherlocalregulations.
• Strongunderstandingofriskassessmentandcontrolmeasures.
• Goodleadershipandcommunicationskills.
• Abilitytomanageemergenciesandleadincidentinvestigations.
• CertifiedinFirstAid,WorkingatHeight,ConfinedSpace,etc.
• FamiliarwithISO45001orbizSAFElevelimplementation.
• Goodwrittenandcommunicationskills.
• Possessesinitiativesandcreativitytodriveprocessimprovements
• Willingtoworkweekends,publicholidays,andoddhourswhenrequired
