Video Analyst

We are looking for a Video Analyst to join our team full-time, supporting player and team development. This role is ideal for someone passionate about football, with strong communication skills and a good understanding of video and analysis tools.

Job Description

As a Football Coach Analyst, you will be responsible for analysing football matches, players, teams, and trends to provide insights and strategic recommendations that support decision-making for coaches, managers, and other key stakeholders. This role involves collecting data, analysing performance, conducting video analysis, and presenting findings in clear and actionable formats. You will contribute to the development of strategies, player scouting, and post-match analysis, helping to improve team performance and inform tactical decisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Match Analysis: Break down live and recorded match footage to identify key patterns, player performance, tactical trends, and team dynamics.
  • Data Collection and Reporting: Use advanced statistical tools and software to track player statistics, team performance metrics, and other key data points (e.g., possession, passes, tackles, shots on target).
  • Pre-Match and Post-Match Reports: Prepare detailed pre-match analysis, offering insights into opponents’ strategies and players. Create comprehensive post-match reports that highlight key moments, performances, and areas of improvement.
  • Tactical Analysis: Evaluate team formations, offensive and defensive strategies, set-pieces, transitions, and individual player roles within the team's tactical framework.
  • Player Scouting: Analyse potential players for recruitment by assessing performance data, strengths, weaknesses, and suitability for the team’s needs.
  • Visualisation: Create visual representations (graphs, charts, heat maps) of match statistics to present findings clearly and effectively to coaches, management, and other stakeholders.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the coaching staff and analysts to provide data-driven insights that influence match preparation, in-game decisions, and player development.
  • Trend Monitoring: Stay updated on the latest football analytics trends and innovations, applying new techniques and insights to improve analysis quality.
Job Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Sports Science, Sports Management, Data Analytics, Statistics, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Proven experience in football analysis or sports analytics, preferably within a professional football club or sports organisation.
  • Experience with performance analysis software such as Hudl, Opta or Wyscout is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with video editing tools for match breakdowns (e.g., Sportscode or similar).

Minimum Licensing: Minimum of UEFA or AFC ‘B’ coaching license equivalent.

Skills
  • Strong understanding of football tactics, formations, and in-game strategies.
  • Expertise in data analysis and statistical modelling, with the ability to extract meaningful insights from raw data.
  • Proficiency with data visualisation tools (Excel, Tableau, Power BI, etc.) to create clear and effective reports.
  • Ability to analyse and interpret football data with precision, providing actionable insights
  • Strong communication skills to present complex information to coaches, players, and other stakeholders in a clear, understandable manner.
