Our Client is a Japanese Venture Capital Company. They are looking for a VC Investment & Portfolio Associate to join the investment team at a venture capital fund specializing in Fintech. The role involves supporting the investment team and general partners in managing relationships with existing and potential stakeholders, including startup founders, investors, co-investors, and partners involved in exit transactions.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct in-depth market research and stay up-to-date with the latest trends and developments in the fintech sector.
  • Assist in sourcing potential investment opportunities and evaluating business ideas, pitch decks, and proposals.
  • Support due diligence on target companies, preparing structured and executive-ready materials for review by the investment team and fund’s investment committee.
  • Develop financial models and perform simulations to evaluate new and follow-on investments, valuations, and liquidity events, incorporating multiple deal scenarios and performance assumptions.
  • Track and manage deal progress throughout the deal flow cycle, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records in internal systems.
  • Facilitate deal execution by coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, including law firms, accounting firms, fund administrators, and brokers.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with portfolio companies and external partners, driving value creation initiatives such as partnership facilitation, fundraising support, and industry insights.
  • Assist the investment team and general partners with fund operations, including marketing and publicity, reporting, and minutes-taking.

Requirements & Preferences
Must
  • At least 5 years of professional experience, preferably in a consulting firm, Big 4 accounting firm, or venture capital firm
  • Strong analytical and research skills, including financial modeling, valuation analysis, and interpretation of complex data sets
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial and business information clearly and concisely
  • Familiarity with legal structures, processes, deal terms, and investment instruments commonly used in private equity and venture capital transactions
  • Collaborative and adaptable, able to work effectively in a diverse, multifunctional, and multicultural team environment
Advantage
