Job summary

A leading trading company in Singapore is seeking a trading assistant to support the implementation of commodity trading contracts. Responsibilities include routine operations, such as contract checking and export documentary negotiation. The ideal candidate will have a diploma or degree in a business-related field, strong communication and negotiation skills, and proficiency in Mandarin. Experience in commodities trading is preferred. The role requires someone who can work well under pressure and is a team player.

Responsibilities

  • Assist trade manager to implement commodity trading contracts.
  • Perform routine operation works including contract checking and L/C issuance.
  • Liaise with sales teams and manage operational risks.

Job description
Responsibilities:
  • To assist trade manager to implement commodity trading contracts signed.
  • Routine operation works including Contract checking, Letter of Credit issuance, B2B L/C match, export documentary negotiation, import bill settlement, calculation of laytime, etc.
  • Close liaison with the iron ore/steel operation team, enhance cooperation.
  • Operational risk management.
  • Liaising with the sales teams.
  • Any other ad-hoc duties assigned by the management.
  • Knowledge of iron ore/steel trading and familiarity with the product specifications is a plus.
Requirements:
  • Minimum Diploma / Degree in Business related major.
  • Proficient Mandarin in both spoken and written to liaise with client from Mainland China (function as the primary contact person to perform the review on trading contracts and to follow up shipping logistics arrangement).
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Responsible, detail-oriented, and a good team player.
  • Experience in commodities trading is preferred.
  • Easy going and could work under pressure. Being honest.
  • Available to start immediately or on short notice.
