The Client:

The client is a prominent global player in the maritime and container shipping industry, known for connecting major world ports and providing comprehensive supply chain solutions. They operate a significant fleet and focus heavily on efficient, long-haul transportation services. This role is crucial to their commercial success and market competitiveness.

Job Scope:

The primary function of this individual is to direct and manage strategic commercial activities. The individual will hold full accountability for the financial performance and operational capacity management of designated trade lanes. This position requires a strong leader capable of making high-impact decisions, conducting in-depth market assessments, and collaborating across internal and external business units to secure a dominant market position and achieve critical financial goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, execute, and continuously refine commercial strategies to optimize revenue generation and operational efficiency within the assigned market segment.
  • Monitor and evaluate the financial and utilization performance of key services, implementing necessary adjustments to meet profitability targets.
  • Provide strategic direction to supporting teams responsible for daily pricing and capacity fulfilment, ensuring alignment with overall segment guidance.
  • Act as the central point of contact, collaborating effectively with internal departments and crucial external partners to flawlessly execute commercial initiatives.
  • Lead, coach, and cultivate the skills of a high-performing commercial management team.
  • Champion a mindset of continuous optimization and strategic evolution in commercial practices.
Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's Degree in maritime, business, economic, or quantitative discipline is a plus.
  • More than 6 years of professional experience in commercial/trade management, including more than 2 years in a leadership or supervisory capacity.
  • Demonstrated ability as a strategic, critical thinker with exceptional analytical capabilities.
