A leading international law firm in Singapore is seeking a newly qualified or soon-to-be qualified solicitor. Candidates must have a strong academic track record (minimum 2:1 degree) and demonstrate skills in practical case handling, communication, and commercial awareness. The successful candidate will work in a supportive firm, rotating through two seats in Aerospace, Commodities, or Shipping, and will receive mentorship along with coverage for SQE fees and necessary travel expenses.
With more than 700 lawyers working across Asia, Australia, the Middle East, Europe and the Americas, we provide a global and seamless service 24 hours a day. We are dynamic, entrepreneurial and leaders in our specialist areas.
We are, unapologetically, true sector experts. Clients come to us because of our deep industry knowledge and ability to talk their language. Bearing the commercial solution in mind, we underpin our advice with a solid foundation of legal expertise.
If you are a newly qualified or soon to be qualified Singapore solicitor looking to join a top rated international law firm and, at the same time, work towards admission as an English solicitor under the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE), we are interested to hear from you. We wish to see candidates with a strong academic track record (minimum 2:1 degree) who also have the drive and ambition which will match the global ethos of our firm. We are recruiting someone who fits the following criteria:
The successful candidate will join a reputable and thriving firm and work with a high performing and supportive team. We will pay for the SQE fees and cover your travel and accommodation expenses in London or nearby country where an examination centre is to enable you to take the examinations. In addition, we will provide the SQE Trainee with the requisite support to ensure that the SQE Trainee can smoothly complete the SQE examinations, including but not limited to providing for study leave.
The successful candidate will undergo two seats (each seat of a six (6) months duration) of their choice (subjected to availability), either in two of our three sector focus groups: Aerospace, Commodities and Shipping.
In the Aerospace department, you will get the opportunity to work in a pre‑eminent global specialist practice, either in Aviation Finance or in Aviation Insurance. In the Commodities department, you will get the opportunity to experience trade finance work, advice on contentious and non‑contentious issues in relation to specific commodities products; or join a global leading practice dealing in transactional and regulatory work in respect of sustainable finance, carbon finance, trading of environmental products, ESG, commodity derivatives and structured products. Lastly, working in a global leading Shipping department, you will get the opportunity to work with market specialists in international ship and offshore finance, as well as experience both dry and wet shipping work.
Whichever department you join, you will be given the opportunity to work with lawyers who are leading specialists in their respective fields. You will be mentored and provided meaningful opportunities for career advancement, both before-time and after your English qualifications.
