Job Description:
The Service Field Sales Engineer is responsible for developing and growing METTLER TOLEDO’s service business by engaging in our installed customer base, identifying service opportunities and providing solutions that improve equipment reliability, performance, compliance and lifecycle value.
The role combines customer engagement, technical understanding and consultative selling. You will work closely with customers, Service Engineers, Product Sales and internal support teams to develop long‑term customer relationships and grow recurring service revenue.
This position is suitable for candidates with 3–5 years of experience in technical sales, service, engineering or customer‑facing roles.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and grow service revenue within an assigned customer base and territory.
- Proactively contact customers through telephone calls, emails, customer visits and other sales activities.
- Identify opportunities for preventive maintenance, calibration, service agreements, equipment upgrades and other lifecycle services.
- Generate quotations and follow up systematically to improve quotation conversion.
- Expand existing service contracts while identifying opportunities to convert transactional customers into contract customers.
- Develop new service opportunities from METTLER TOLEDO’s installed equipment base.
- Identify opportunities to cross‑sell additional services and solutions across relevant product portfolios.
- Generate leads and cross leads
- Maintain a healthy sales pipeline and deliver agreed sales targets and monitor sales metrics.
- Communicate the value of preventive maintenance, calibration and lifecycle services.
- Work closely with Service Engineers, Product Sales team, Service Operations and Customer Support to ensure effective delivery of customer commitments.
- Represent and participate in exhibitions, seminars, customer trainings, etc.
- Maintain accurate customer, opportunity and activity information in CRM/SAP.
Qualification Requirements
Education
- Diploma or Degree in Engineering, preferably:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Electrical/Electronic Engineering
- Mechatronics
- Instrumentation
- Chemical Engineering
- Biomedical/Biotechnology‑related disciplines
- Other relevant technical or science disciplines
- Candidates from other disciplines with strong technical aptitude and demonstrated interest in B2B sales may also be considered.
Relevant experience may include:
- 2-3 years of experience in technical sales or sales engineering.
- Service sales or aftermarket sales.
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets
- Field service or technical service with customer‑facing responsibilities.
- Instrumentation, laboratory equipment, industrial equipment or engineering solutions.
- B2B account management or business development.
- Experience selling service contracts, maintenance, calibration or other recurring service solutions would be advantageous.
