Job summary

A leading marine engineering company in Singapore is seeking a Service Engineer to troubleshoot and repair 2-stroke electronic controlled engines. Responsibilities include managing teams, overseeing repairs onboard, and ensuring compliance with regulations. The ideal candidate has a diploma in marine/mechanical engineering, at least 5 years of experience in the marine industry, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years' experience with marine engine makers or marine industry on new generation engines.
  • Fluent in English with strong communication and report writing skills.
  • Willing to travel frequently.

Responsibilities

  • Lead on servicing, troubleshooting, and repair of new generation 2-stroke electronic controlled engines.
  • Conduct onboard overhauls of marine 2-stroke engines, ensuring compliance with IMO regulations.
  • Manage team supervision and contribute to appraisals and development of subordinates.

Service Engineer – 2-Stroke Engines

Department: Engines - Electronic Controlled Engines Services
Location: Singapore
Reporting to: Dept. Manager - Engines

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead on servicing, troubleshooting, and repair of new generation 2-stroke electronic controlled engines (e.g., ME-B, ME-C, DF engine components).
  • Perform service and overhaul on fuel pumps and engine components including HPS, HCU, ECS, FIVA valves, and lubricators.
  • Conduct onboard overhauls of marine 2-stroke engines, ensuring compliance with IMO regulations.
  • Manage team supervision, set examples in work attitude, and contribute to appraisals and development of subordinates.
  • Prepare risk assessments, work plans, and schedules, and conduct toolbox meetings.
  • Coordinate jobs internally and communicate proactively with customers, subcontractors, and department managers.
  • Manage job reporting, cost control, spare parts lists, and ensure safe working practices adhering to company policies.
  • Maintain and ensure good order of equipment, tools, and testing instruments.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Diploma in Marine/Mechanical Engineering or MEO Class II Certificate of Competency.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience with marine engine makers or marine industry on new generation engines.
  • Strong service knowledge of HPS, HCU, ECS, FIVA systems.
  • Possession of Seaman book with core knowledge and sailing experience on electronic controlled engines preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Fluent in English with strong communication and report writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently under pressure with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Willing to travel frequently.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and team player attitude.
