About Us

THK MC is the charitable arm of Thye Hua Kwan Moral Society, which lives by the mission - To Serve Mankind - to help anyone who needs help regardless of their race, religion, colour, language, creed and culture. THK MC today serves more than 70,000 beneficiaries through more than 70 programmes across five Services, which include Disability, Early Intervention for Children, Family, Seniors' Community, and Therapy.


Job Description

The Early Intervention for Children (EIC) Services helps equip children with motor, communication, social, self-help and cognitive skills. THK EIC involves structuring classes around small groups encompassing early childhood special education, social work and therapy support services to stimulate their adaptive functioning and school readiness skills.


This position reports to the A/Head of Department (Teaching).


Role

To lead the teachers in working towards the Division, Centre and programme goals in close partnership with the Therapists, Social Workers, Psychology Associates, Administrative Staff and Families of the children. To ensure the smooth daily operations of the Early Intervention Programme.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Overseeing the Curriculum

  • Ensure that the programme is effective in achieving learning objectives and differentiated to meet individual student's IEP goals.

Mentoring and coaching

  • Supervise Principal Leads, Lead Teachers, Teacher Assistants, and Teacher Aides in their responsibilities within their respective scope of work.

  • Mentor and motivate the teachers for quality teaching in areas including child engagement, naturalistic teaching strategies, differentiation in approaches, positive behaviour support.

  • Responsible for the professional development of their supervisees.

  • Conduct annual performance appraisals for their supervisees.

Process and Resources Management

  • Ensure the smooth running of all related processes of the early intervention programme.

  • Manage manpower matters including manpower requisition, deployment and leave applications.

  • Orientate new teachers to the Centre's ethos, processes and their job scope.

  • Manage volunteers.

  • Establish and maintain timeline for various submissions.

  • Monitor and maintain the effectiveness of pre-cases, IEP reviews and case conferences.

  • Manage Centre resources.

  • Ensure centre's compliance to various regulatory requirements.

  • Oversee the requisition of resources, and monetary claims.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Degree

  • Recognised training e.g. Specialised Diploma in Early Childhood Intervention (Special Needs), Higher Certificate in Autism

  • More than 6 years of experience in early intervention, working with families and children
