The Senior / Research Fellow is responsible for providing evidence to support hypotheses, conducting experiments, and performing data analysis for research projects. The role involves close collaboration with Principal Investigators and external stakeholders, offering assistance in research activities and supporting the operation and maintenance of research equipment and infrastructure within the team and department.

The successful candidate must be detail-oriented, organised, independent, and capable of managing workload effectively by prioritising tasks and requests in line with project goals and deadlines. They will guide and mentor junior staff and other researchers both within and outside the team, provide regular progress updates, and undertake ad hoc duties as required by the supervisor.

The Senior / Research Fellow will work closely with the supervisor to drive research projects from design through execution to completion, ensuring the smooth functioning of the research and laboratory team.

  • Undertake challenging projects aligned with the goals of the Principal Investigator and department.

  • Educate, train, and guide the team on health and safety, including chemical and biological safety compliance.
  • Ensure research and ethics compliance within the department and project teams.
  • Contribute to institutional policy by directing local policy and advising staff.
  • Maintain assigned equipment in good working condition and train end-users on its operation.
Leadership and Management
  • Analyse unexpected outcomes and demonstrate flexibility in adapting processes.
  • Influence the setting of standards and define criteria for researchers’ skills.
  • Seek information and feedback on research direction and colleagues’ professional development.

  • Supervise and take responsibility for projects and activities supporting the goals of the Principal Investigator’s laboratory and department.

Requirements

Education - PhD in Life Science, Health Services Research, Psychology/Neuropsychology, or Behavioural Science.

Relevant Experience and Skills / Specialisation
