Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the day-to-day construction activities of assigned projects.
- Monitor project progress against the baseline schedule and report updates, issues, and risks to the Senior/Project Manager in a timely manner.
- Conduct VSCC meetings and ensure ship work safety, cleanliness, and compliance with safety standards.
- Liaise with trades to coordinate activities and construction efforts to achieve progress safely, within schedule, and on budget.
- Plan, develop, and organize the construction effort to formulate cost-effective strategies that support project schedule and budget.
- Ensure all changes to specifications, work scope, and drawings are properly documented.
- Review man-hour allocations, duration forecasts, and resource requirements for project completion.
- Monitor construction productivity and schedule performance; investigate and resolve any performance gaps.
- Manage schedule, cost-to-completion (CTC), and percentage of completion (POC) reporting together with the Senior/Project Manager.
- Support planning, scheduling, costing, and project tender activities when required.
- Handle warranty issues and follow-up.
- Maintain strong relationships with customers on-site and manage their expectations effectively.
Requirements
- Diploma/Degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Naval Architecture.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in newbuild or ship repair projects; candidates with 3 years of experience will be considered for Senior Engineer level.
- Completion of Ship Repair Manager Course is preferred.
- Project management skills in planning, scheduling, costing, risk management, manpower management, and customer relationship management.
- Familiarity with project management software such as Primavera or MS Project will be advantageous.
- Willingness to work onboard vessels and on weekends, based on project requirements.
