A leading construction finance firm in Singapore is looking for a Project Accountant to manage financial aspects of construction projects. This role involves budgeting, cost tracking, billing, and financial reporting. Job Summary

The Project Accountant is responsible for managing the financial aspects of construction projects from start to finish. This role ensures accurate project cost tracking, budgeting, billing, and financial reporting while working closely with project managers, site teams, and senior management to support profitable project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Project Financial Management

• Set up and maintain project budgets, cost codes, and job cost reports
• Monitor project costs, commitments, and variations against approved budgets
• Track labor, materials, subcontractor, and overhead costs
• Prepare cost forecasts and cash flow projections

Billing & Revenue

• Prepare and process progress billings, client invoices, and payment applications
• Manage retention, variations, and change orders
• Reconcile billed vs. unbilled revenue
• Ensure timely collection and follow up on outstanding payments

Accounting & Reporting

• Prepare monthly project financial reports and variance analysis
• Record journal entries related to project costs, accruals, and revenue recognition
• Support month-end and year-end closing activitiesEnsure compliance with accounting standards and company policies

Subcontractor & Vendor Management

• Review subcontractor invoices for accuracy and contract compliance
• Track subcontractor commitments, payments, and retention
• Coordinate with procurement and project teams on cost controls

Collaboration & Controls

• Work closely with Project Managers to provide financial insights and controls
• Support internal and external audits related to project accounting
• Assist in improving financial processes and reporting systems

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• At least 3 years of experience in project accounting, preferably in SGX listed construction/ engineering/ consultancy company
• Experience with accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, Procore, Sage, or similar).
• Experience in Yardi/Cognos is an advantage.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tool.
• Experience in consolidation is an advantage.
