About the role

The Technology Development department comprises of diverse groups of curious, world class engineering specialists. We are experts in our fields, and we ensure Dyson products are on the edge of what's possible. The department encompasses specialist groups across different disciplines Product Performance, Acoustics, Fluid Dynamics, Structural Dynamics, Materials. This role resides within the Product Performance group, which provides the technical analysis of hair appliance product performance such as quantifying and optimising how well the product dries and styles hair.

  • Identify key performance drivers, design and analyze experiments, and use modeling tools (e.g., ing, Excel, Minitab) to generate, assess, and optimize predictive models.
  • Develop efficient test plans and methodologies that reflect real customer experiences and ensure performance targets are met.
  • Evaluate experimental and analytical data to provide technically rigorous recommendations, including proposing design mitigations and optimizations.
  • Formulate clear problem statements, characterize and communicate risks, and provide balanced recommendations on complex system interactions.
  • Collaborate effectively within project teams, clearly communicate findings to stakeholders, and maintain thorough documentation for future reference.
  • Guide, influence, and support junior team members while fostering a strong work ethic and logical approach.
  • Seek improvement opportunities by challenging the status quo, developing new tools or methods, and driving performance and reliability enhancements.
About you
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineering or related field, with ideally 5+ years experience in product design and development (lesser experience considered for exceptional candidates).
  • Strong foundation in engineering fundamentals, measurement and statistical analysis; proficiency in Minitab, MATLAB, Excel, or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with CAD/CAE applications and experience in statistical modeling (e.g., multiple regression) preferred.
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to give and receive constructive feedback, and coach less experienced engineers.
  • Skilled at conveying ideas clearly to various audiences and able to persuade and influence within project teams.
  • Effective at collaborating and managing interactions with diverse internal stakeholders.
