Job Summary
The jobholder (2-year contract) The Senior Manager/Manager will lead MENDAKI’s strategic communications efforts by shaping and executing integrated strategies across media relations and corporate communications. The role focuses on strategic planning, crafting high-impact messaging, and driving initiatives that enhance MENDAKI’s reputation and stakeholder trust.
The jobholder is expected to work from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on weekdays and may be required to work over weekends and public holidays to support organisation events. Although the jobholder is largely expected to work in an indoor environment, occasional travel for meetings and programme visits is expected.
Key Responsibility Areas
Strategic Planning
- a. Develop and implement MENDAKI’s annual strategic communications plan for all pillars, reviewed quarterly.
- b. Align communication strategies with organisational priorities and key initiatives.
- c. Identify emerging trends and recommend proactive communication approaches.
Media Relations
- a. Draft media releases, fact sheets, FAQs, and human-interest stories for MENDAKI initiatives.
- b. Coordinate media coverage for events, including interviews and press briefings, ensuring alignment with the communications calendar.
- c. Maintain strong relationships with media partners and support monthly media engagement activities.
- d. Develop and implement DRIP strategy and rapid response protocols for organic media opportunities.
Corporate Communications
- a. Prepare corporate materials including speeches, talking points, and reports for senior management.
- b. Assist in producing corporate publications such as the Annual Report and monthly CEO communications.
- c. Support internal communications initiatives, including drafting content for internal bulletins and stakeholder updates.
- d. Develop brand persona for leadership team and ensure consistent messaging across platforms.
Monitoring & Reporting
- a. Conduct daily media and social listening scans, including sentiment analysis and trend insights.
- b. Maintain archives of media coverage and prepare periodic reports for internal stakeholders.
- c. Track and report communication effectiveness, recommending improvements based on data insights.
- d. Lead research studies and provide strategic recommendations based on findings.
Requirements
- a. At least 3-5 years of relevant experience with proven expertise in strategic communications, media relations, and corporate communications.
- b. Degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or other relevant qualifications from any recognised institution
- c. Strong command of written and spoken English and Malay, with ability to craft high-impact messaging for diverse audiences
- d. Strong strategic planning and advisory skills, with experience in developing integrated communication strategies
- e. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage stakeholders across different levels
- f. Strong project management and time management capabilities, with a track record of delivering complex initiatives under tight deadlines.
- g. Good knowledge of trends in the MM issues is an advantage.
- h. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
Knowledge of digital media marketing and campaigns is an advantage.
