Job description

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role in maintaining, upgrading, and commissioning mechanical systems in power and process plants. Your responsibilities will span turbine overhauls, valve and pump servicing, balance‑of‑plant operations, and project execution. Success in this position means delivering technically sound, safe, and efficient engineering solutions that meet our clients' expectations. This role directly supports the company’s mission of engineering excellence and reliability, working closely with cross‑functional teams to ensure projects are delivered on time and to the highest standards.

Responsibilities

  • Review and approve technical drawings, datasheets, and material selections.
  • Ensure design compliance with applicable codes (ASME, API, ANSI) and plant standards.
Maintenance and Reliability Engineering
  • Develop and manage preventive and predictive maintenance strategies for mechanical systems.
  • Analyse mechanical failures and conduct root cause investigations (RCA).
  • Optimise the reliability and availability of rotating and static equipment (pumps, valves, compressors, fans).
Project Management
  • Plan and execute mechanical engineering projects, including equipment upgrades, retrofits, and system expansions.
  • Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and internal teams during procurement, installation, and commissioning phases.
  • Monitor project scope, budget, and schedule, ensuring timely delivery.
Operations Support
  • Provide technical guidance to operations teams during equipment startup, shutdown, and emergencies.
  • Support day-to-day troubleshooting of mechanical issues and implement long-term solutions.
  • Contribute to performance optimisation and energy efficiency improvements.
Safety, Compliance, and Quality
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations and standards.
  • Participate in audits, HAZOP studies, and risk assessments.
  • Develop and maintain SOPs, work instructions, and safety procedures.
Team Leadership and Collaboration
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide on-the-job technical training.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (electrical, instrumentation, civil) to resolve interdisciplinary issues.
  • Represent the mechanical discipline in technical meetings and plant reviews.
Documentation and Reporting
  • Prepare technical reports, maintenance logs, RCA documentation, and engineering evaluations.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment history and performance.
  • Support procurement with technical specifications and bid evaluations.
